A visit to Tauranga

We went to Tauranga and stayed Saturday night at a friend's place. The picture is the view they get from their back garden. The property goes right down to the water. It is a very relaxing place to visit.

We had planned to go for ride in our takacat on Sunday morning, but we had to come  home early as someone was coming to see the big truck on Sunday afternoon. The people who came to look at the truck are quite keen and made Eddie an offer, which he accepted. They are going to think about it for a week and let us know next weekend. Fingers crossed.

Instead of going out in the takacat, we went out for breakfast at the marina and watched yachts beginning to race without a lot of wind. Needless to say they didn't move very far or fast. We watched a cruise liner come into port too.
Yachts sailing with out a lot of wind.

A cruise ship entering Port of Tauranga.

This is a memorial to the men of the navy and merchant navy who died in W W 2. It is the propeller of a ship, which was sunk near Motiti Island to be a diving reef. The name of the ship has escaped me for the moment, but I will go back and get the details at some stage and let you know.

Takacat Picture.

It occurred to me that people may not know what a takacat looks like. So here is a picture of ours.
It includes ( I have just realized)  a bit of my finger. The cord hanging down is part of the brakes system that connects to the truck, when we are traveling and nothing to do with the takacat. The pillow looking thing is a seat that is attached to the sides when in use.

We took it for a ride up the Waikato River from Little Waipa last Monday afternoon and had a very refreshing swim while we were there. When we are mobile again we may spend a weekend or two there.

The dodge is at the engineers getting the hitch put on, so we are making progress. Quite exciting.
