a little catch up

We are a bit over the rain. It isn't too bad today with showers. I may even get the washing dry. The weekend was pretty gloomy with fog most of Saturday and rainy yesterday. We went over to Mt Maunganui to catch up with a cousin of mine who lives in Timaru and was up for a holiday. We had a lovely catch up. We went out and had coffee in a little cafe that they had found. We came back over the Kaimai Ranges about 5 30 and there was nothing to see but a sea of fog with Mt Maungatautari poking up like an island. The horizon was a violent red. It looked quite impressive.

We emptied our toilet for the first time on Saturday. All good, except we have realized we have used the wrong moss. We used sphagnum moss and it is supposed to be peat moss. The book said sphagnum, but the video says peat. We wonder if sphagnum is the name for peat in America. We had another look at the video and realized our mistake. I have gone around all the garden centres here and there is none in Matamata, so I will have to go to Cambridge tomorrow and get the right stuff, so we can start again.
