We have had a perfect summers day today. Sunny skies; not a lot of wind; no sign of rain; 27 degrees this afternoon.
Eddie has been trying to catch up with the weed whacking and mowing over the past couple of weeks. Now that the camp is quieter he is getting his jobs done.
Louise went to Hamilton for 2 days about a week ago. I was going to be in the office as her daughter, Kayla was going into Whakatane for about an hour. In the end her appointment was cancelled so I didn't have to do it after all.
On Tuesday last week, we went for a dip in the estuary, which is where the Rangitaiki River comes out into the sea. The water was really cold, so we didn't stay in for long. We went to look at the ocean and paddled our feet. The water was warmer, but the sea was very rough, so we gave it a miss. The beach is steep here and at high tide the water can be dangerous. The drag on my legs was enough to put me off.
On Sunday we went to see the movie “A Man Called Otto” starring Tom Hanks. His son played Otto as a young man. We really enjoyed it. Some parts sad; some parts funny. We went with Louise and her friend Andrea. We haven't been to the movies for a while, so it was nice for a change. We came out and it was still light, which always seems strange after a movie. There had been a shower of rain too. I would thoroughly recommend it. There was someone behind us sitting on a squeaky chair. We don't know why they didn't move as the theatre wasn't that full. It was a bit irritating.
We finally have some days off this week. We have only had 2 days since Christmas. We are both quite tired, so I think it is time. Especially Eddie as he does a lot of physical work around the place.
We just cruised yesterday morning, making the most of not having to go to work. We were going to leave here to go to town about 2 to get the groceries and my hair trimmed. We had a nap after lunch. I woke up at 2. I heard the 2 o'clock news on the radio, as Eddie was calling out are you ready? Needless to say; I wasn't ha ha. We got all our jobs done and my hair cut, so it worked out ok. We spent a long time in Bunnings get stuff for the camp. It always takes a while in there. We have bought me a trolley to use when I am cleaning, so I am not carrying every thing I need and having to reload my bucket when I am up to the next area. I go from kitchen, the ladies loos, showers, men's loos and then the old block at the back of the camp. As a result I am reloading several times. Looking forward to one load in the trolley.
